Alcudia Holidays 2012
Alcudia is a fairly quiet resort on the north coast of Majorca, popular with visitors who don’t want the noise and hectic lifestyle of resorts elsewhere on the island. The Old Town area is full of history as it used to be Majorca’s capital. There are regular flights to Majorca from many UK airports, making your trip to the sun only hours away.
Exploring Alcudia
The Old Town of Alcudia dates back to 1300 so there’s a lot for history buffs here, including the castle. A guided tour of the sights takes two hours and introduces you to the main sights, such as the city walls, the Portal del Moll and the Roman ruins. There’s also a local market that’s ideal for souvenir hunting.
The Bay of Alcudia is where most of the hotels, villas and apartments are found, including the Club Bellevue Apartments, and you’re within walking distance of the beach. Boat trips are widely available from the marina, and you can catch regular ferries for a day trip to Menorca. At the beach you can expect beautifully clean sands and water sports such as parasailing and kite surfing - it’s a hit with families looking for fun and safety for their kids. English is widely spoken here and you can also fill up on English food as well as local Mallorquin dishes, or you can try anything from Chinese to Tex Mex around the marina.
Evening entertainment is largely centred on the hotels and bars, with a couple of nightclubs and the chance to enjoy some karaoke, but those looking for louder nightlife would be advised to head for resorts in the southern part of the island such as Magaluf. Alcudia offers gentler entertainment and a more relaxing break.
