Unwind in Marbella
Marbella is one of the jewels on the Spanish Costa del Sol, and conjures up images of the rich and famous relaxing on their yachts, but now with low cost airlines bringing in more and more tourists from UK airports on a daily basis, it is possible to have cheap holidays in Marbella, or Marbs, as it's known. Very easily accessible from Malaga Airport either by taxi or hire car, the resort is up market yet visitor friendly, and still manages to hold on to its Spanish flavour.
You are never short of something to do on family or group holidays to Marbella.
The town is highly popular with golfers as there are some of the best golf courses in Europe within striking distance of the town, and with an estimated 320 days of sunshine and average year-round temperature of 19 C, it is the perfect climate for golf addicts.
There are twelve beaches in and around the town and, with such mild winters, late holidays to Marbella can still offer plenty of sunshine for water sports, or just relaxing. The resort is less crowded but the bars and restaurants are still open so, unlike many coastal resorts, Marbella never looks deserted.
The modern part of the town has a wide seafront boulevard with dozens of bars and classy restaurants and, further down, the area known as Puerto Banus leads to the marina which is packed with glitzy yachts and powerful speed boats, and is the favourite venue for the celebs that take their frequent holidays in Marbella
The old town of Marbella is where the Spanish atmosphere can be found, with tiny picturesque squares, orange trees and outdoor cafes, and it is a delightful place in which to chill out, away from the high life of the marina.
The Sierra Bermeja Mountains lie behind the resort and they are a great escape for a day out in the mountains; there are some spectacular views of Marbella from the slopes. Marbella is near lots of other tourist resorts on the coast, so theres lots to get out and about to explore. Benalmadena to the east is great for a day out. See more about Benalmadena holidays.
