Split - Bars + Nightlife

Star Rock Café
A look-a-like Hard Rock Café, with electric guitars hanging on the walls and from the ceilings. Big bar area and generally a great place for young wannabes to hang out.

Planet Jazz
L-shaped jazz club with outdoor seating area. Usually attracting a mix of young locals as well as tourists.

Puls, Puls 2 + Song
3 popular bars located in a small square, just behind the Riva. The square provides the buzz, and it becomes very crowded when the weather is good.

Pivnica Klara
Busy pub situated north of the town centre. Pivnica Klara is full of people on Friday and Saturday nights. One of the main reasons is their magnificent outdoor beer garden.

O’Hara (ex Shakespeare)
One of the places to be seen, also for the locals. Nice club, good atmosphere.

Split - Shopping

Opening Hours:
10am – 8pm in most shops

Split has many shops, department stores and a range of small authentic galleries, souvenir and antique shops in the alleys within the walls of the Palace. In the middle of summer these tiny streets stay in the shady coolness of the stone walls making a lengthy shopping trip a pleasure. However, the city offers plenty of shopping opportunities outside the Palace as well. The most popular shopping area in Split for designer goods is the marble-lined street of Marmontova. On Marmontova Ulica Street you will find jewellery, clothing, shoes and other goods and brands such as Versace, Armani, and D+G. If you are searching for souvenirs from Split and the surrounding areas, look no further than the basement of Diocletian's Palace. There you can find several different souvenir shops/stands. In short, everything that can be associated with Split or the Adriatic Sea is available here. To the east side of the city walls is the Trznica Market. There you will find fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, flowers, gadgets and the latest for your mobile phone. Also available are crafts, t-shirts and football jerseys, including the one from the local football club, Hajduk Split, which is very popular amongst the many visitors to the market. If you prefer to shop in big centres, Split can provide that as well. One of the best and biggest shopping centres in Split is in Koteks.

Split - What's on

Diocletian’s Palace
The Palace is the pride of the town and houses several interesting areas. It was built by the Emperor Diocletian in 305 AD. The main approach to the Palace from the Riva is through the Bronze Gate.

The Cathedral of St. Domnius
Inside the Palace walls and full of ancient history. It was in this Cathedral that the remains of the Emperor disappeared after they had rested there for 170 years.

Narodni trg (People’s Square)
The main square of the city since the fourteenth century; it is overlooked by the Romanesque clock tower to the east. The north side is dominated by the old Town Hall, which has been turned into an ethnographic museum.

City Museum
The museum houses a great collection presenting the cultural and historic heritage of Split.
